Success Stories

“I joined Hockey Mentors at the start of the project and have enjoyed every aspect of it. I have met and played with some great players, mentors and coaches. All this has increased my confidence, improved my skills and grown my love for hockey. It is now an amazing feeling to be given back as a coach to the next generation of HM talent ”

Archie Crowley (England U18)

Hockey Mentors is an amazing programme which supports players to grow in an inclusive environment with great coaching and games. The camps are so much fun because you can improve as a player while doing drills that are unique and exciting. This has helped me to improve technically and I have found it super helpful! “

Please complete the application form on the link below (this will be put live on 23rd Feb 2026).

Players are selected from the applications made. Selection criteria includes current playing level, age and previous performance/attitude in HM activity. In addition for those who were not on the 25/26 HPP Programme there are open trials.

Players can apply for the 5 camps, 4 camps or 3 camps packages. In each case they can select which of the 5 camps make up the package.

5 camps (£735)- £105 a month for 7 months

4 camps (£595)- £85 a month for 7 months

3 camps (£455)- £65 a month for 7 months

Please note…

-The 7 monthly payments run from 1st June-1st Dec.

-Packages include the specified number of camps, two training t-shirts and individual feedback as requested.

Players who were on the HPP last season on a package (3/4/5 camps) will be assessed based on their previous performances in the HPP. They do not need to attend the open trial day.

Players who were not in the HPP last season on a camp package will be assessed through an open trial day on 7th April 2026 at Shobnall Leisure Centre (Burton Upon Trent). This costs £60 to attend and the day will run from 10am-5pm (payment will be requested and full details provided via email after the application window closes).

If your child cannot attend the open trial day they can still apply but their chances of selection will be reduced.

We define a junior performance player as a player who wants to improve their hockey and be exposed to a performance environment, which replicates a junior international environment as closely as possible. Players are generally county standard or above, with many players in Talent Academies or playing National League.

Ex GB Coach Jon Royce and HM Founder Jack Childs lead the overall content for the camps. They are supported by a range of Head Coaches, who have all generally at minimum been a Head Coach at National League level. Further support is provided by assistants (who are generally high-level players and HM alumni) and specialist GK coaches. Our GK coaching is overseen by ex New Zealand international coach Rod Journeaux, supported by leading GK coaching company Hero and other coaches.

3 camps include indoor and outdoor hockey. The 15th/16th Aug camp at Clifton College is outdoor only and the 15th/16th Feb camp at Repton School is indoor hockey only. We are huge fans of indoor hockey at HM, as we believe it helps technical development and being able to make decisions under pressure in tight spaces.

There will be extra spaces for 15th/16th August 2026 and 5th/6th April 2027 camps.

Applications open on Monday 23rd February 2026 and close on Sunday 22nd March 2026.

All applicants will be informed whether they have been successful W/C 11th May, with first payments due 1st June.
